Hare Hunting in Hungary

Hare hunting in Hungary is especially popular among organized groups. The optimal group size is 10 to 12 hunters, which allows for effective coverage of the hunting area — fields or meadows — during driven hunts.

We work with carefully selected estates where the average result over recent seasons has been no less than 100 hares per group in just two days of hunting. This makes it a great choice not only for experienced hunters but also for beginners. Thanks to professional organization and support, success is guaranteed. We can also arrange pre-hunt training at a shooting range, allowing participants to practice shooting at moving and flying targets. During hare hunts, there is often an opportunity to hunt pheasants or wild ducks as well.

Hare hunting season in Hungary runs from October 1st to January 15th, with the best period typically from October through mid-November.

Driven Hunt for Big Game

One of the most popular hunting experiences in Hungary, and the reason why many of our clients return year after year, is the driven hunt for big game. What makes this hunt especially attractive is the variety of game that can be harvested during a single drive. Most often, our guests target wild boar, although their population has unfortunately declined in recent years due to African swine fever spreading from the eastern part of the country. Despite this, we carefully select hunting estates where wild boar are still present and typically account for at least 30–40% of total trophies harvested.

In addition to wild boar (which may include sows, sub-adults, and piglets), hunters often encounter red deer, roe deer, fallow deer, and mouflon during drives. However, during driven hunts, Hungarian law permits only the harvesting of females and young animals (without antlers) for these species.

Accommodation for hunting groups is usually arranged in 4- or 5-star thermal spa hotels or a hunter's lodge. The transfer to the hunting grounds rarely exceeds an hour, allowing guests to enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting out. Each hunting day starts with a safety briefing, and each hunter receives a detailed map of the day's drive organization. Hunters are transported to their stands — either high seats, ground positions, or half-high seats — using off-road vehicles and jeeps. Typically, we organize two drives before lunch and one or two after, depending on weather conditions. A hot meal is served either at midday or after the final drive.
